Mrs. Amanda Varnadore
Guidance Counselor
This is year 20 in public education for me! I have been a guidance counselor at Fort Payne High School for seven years. Although our guidance department works with all students for scheduling and counseling needs, I work hand-in-hand with seniors and helping them prepare for their futures. I previously taught language arts grades 9–12 at FPHS for six years, was a guidance counselor at Albertville City Schools for three years, taught 7th and 8th grade language arts at Boaz Middle School for three years, and 6th and 7th grade language arts at Opelika Middle School for three years. During my years as an educator, I took a break in my teaching career to be a stay-at-home mom. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education Language Arts from Auburn University and earned my Master of Education in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama. I am a high school graduate of Sylvania High School.

Guidance & Counseling
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at Fort Payne High School! I am honored to serve as your high school counselor and to have the opportunity to work with each of you. My name is Regina Boatwright, and this is my 25th year working with Fort Payne City Schools. Over the years I have served as a teacher, a reading interventionist, and an elementary school counselor. This year, I am excited to begin my first year as the high school counselor — and I have already loved getting to know many of our students. I believe that success in high school looks different for every student. With the right support and advocacy, every student has the opportunity to grow academically, socially, and emotionally — even during the most challenging years. My goal is to help every student thrive. I will strive to motivate, encourage, and find creative solutions so each student can be as successful as possible. As your school counselor, I consider it a privilege to create an environment where all students feel welcomed, valued, and supported. I want every student to know they are seen, heard, and respected, and that they have access to the education and opportunities they deserve. Please know that my office is here for you. Whether you need academic guidance, social-emotional support, or just someone to talk with — I am here. I encourage students and families to reach out anytime. I look forward to a wonderful school year full of growth, learning, and success. Let's make this our best year yet!
